Used to eliminate ground loop problems (usually manifested as a low hum) in audio connections. Earthing brown ground wires sometimes helps even more.

Works, BUT causes intermittent loss of low-mids

tenorbanjocamSeptember 2024

This product works quite well in removing alternator whine, BUT, I've now had two instances in different installs where using the product cause intermittent cut outs of low-mid frequencies (on a higher end install this becomes evident on the low mid woofer channels). I can only assume this is the result of some kind of intermittent connection inside the device, but keep this issue in mind and perhaps choose a higher end product for serious installations. And yes, these installs are textbook correct and grounds are all good, some older vehicles inherently suffer from alternator whine and a product like this is the last resort.

Worked as hoped

Fitted a pair of these units to an amplifier and they resolved 90% of the speaker hum/buzz. Interference only began after installing a non audio system related differential controller near where RCA cabling was previously routed.

Poor quality, assembled with hot glue

gnifMarch 2026

I bought two of these and dismantled them as I needed custom connectors rather than RCA. Build quality is not great, the transformers have been hot glued in place which in the hot sun in the car will go soft allowing the transformers to move around. Once the glue softens, the transformers are held in place with just their thin soldered wires which in an automotive application is going to fatigue and break (As other reviews have noted), silicon should have been used. Poorly soldered joints on the transformers, one of which I had to repair out of the box. The circuit is simple, 47uF electrolytic on the input, positive facing the source (DC decoupling cap), feeding an audio transformer. The "ground wires" are just parallel with the RCA shield, connecting this to the car chassis as instructed is very likely to cause a ground loop as the shield should only be connected at one end to prevent return current flowing via another path (the chassis). That said, the transformers are sized large enough to cover the audible frequency spectrum and was able to decouple the digital (can bus) and alternator noise.

Bought yesterday and it works but a little bit to bulky
