Negative: Loud AF. Also, it doesn't actually work as provided. All the gears mesh correctly, and the hands advance if the pendulum is manually operated, but the swinging motion has too much resistance for the pendulum to actually swing. Applying sandpaper to the 3mm diameter section of part 22, the "gear fork", allows it to move freely within the hole of part 29, the "white stool". Step 10 in the book is horribly written. Just search for an image of an "anchor escapement" and then you'll understand how it should look. Positive: Unfortunately I have to award it two stars because it's educational. I now know enough about clocks to overcome the problems with the product.

Good learning tool

Damian PDecember 2024

Instructions were a bit difficult to follow but it works and was fun for my 7 year old daughter to build with some help from the adults

Does not work when assembled as per instructions

Kat1October 2024

Bought for my child, instructions were suitable for a child although 6yo did require a little assistance. It does not work as stated though as the pendulum will not move when wound up. Have troubleshooted many ways, can move by hand to pendulum to make it work however it will not move on its own. Quite expensive for what it is.

Mechanism doesn’t line up

RachelOctober 2024

The cogs don’t line up because of a design fault so I couldn’t even get it working expensive and frustrating
