Stop using AI
Using AI art on both the new catalogue cover and the stores new imagery is a REALLY bad look. Taking away from Graphic Designers to save a few bucks looks horrible.
How to view the new catalogue
Tried to view the Catalogue both on desktop and phone, there is a button that says view catalogue which I assumed would take me to an open catalogue to view, wrong! I had to go searching for the button which is right at the bottom of the page. Not a very tech savy website and trying to view it on my phone was even worse because it keeps coming up with a 404 error. On a positive note I love all the new 3d filament colours but when will stores have them ?? No one has any stock but they are already in your catalogue ?
Jaycar broke my heart with AI
Jaycar broke my heart. They brought back the catalogue when so many of us asked for it back, but they used ai to generate it this time. Why should I bother buying/reading something when no human could even be bothered to spend a bit of time (or hire a skilled person from the community) to make it? I buy/interact with things because I enjoy what other humans used their wonderful imagination/creativity/time to make, and not because someone typed in just a few words into generative ai. Even the text (not just the cover art) on many items seems generated, with a sentence structure like "adjective1, adjective2, and adjective3, it's perfect for presentparticiple1, presentparticiple2, and presentparticiple3.", where ai commonly uses the rule-of-three at the end of descriptions. Please stop using ai, as it feels so unprofessional and lazy, and I don't want to have to stop shopping at my favourite store due to cringe and lower quality things.

Great to see the catalogue back
Great to see the print copy return. The front cover looks okay to me. I spend most of my time looking at components and not the cover anyway. It worked fine on my iPad. It’s such a great resource for looking up parts for your projects.
AI slop on a paid catalogue
Really bad look charging for a catalogue that uses generative AI art on the front cover. Pay a graphic designer, or just slap a logo on a solid background. Horrible practice, cut it out.
Awful disapointment and the downfall of my collect
Bought today as I have been collecting physical jaycar annuals for over a decade, and was disapointed to see blurry AI slop on the front cover, I would have hoped a company known for supplying devices to creatives and engineers would put more thought into the choices they make, would love to see a re-release with a real cover. Not worth $10, first they took the project awards and now an AI cover. Much like the infamous Simpsons DVD case, collection ruining.

Fantastic to have the annual catalogue back can’t wait for the next one to come out will definitely be buying don’t worry about the 1 star reviews as it doesn’t have anything to to with the item people just wearing tin foil hats 5 stars all around
