Bird nest mess

Printing with TomJuly 2026

I bought this about a month ago and I have been using the spool on and off. I have had nothing but issues with this spool. It does not adhere to the bed properly and makes nothing but a bird's nest or a puddle of filament. I did thing this was an issue with my printer, however, after changing settings, the hot end (twice) and printer on another printer; it yields the same result. Evidently the filament is pretty garbage and is likely a bad (very bad) batch. Steer clear unless you have looooooots of time, patience and money to keep buying rolls as you watch your printer make birds nests.

Excellent match with Creality Spark i7 with AMS

I have purchased 6 rolls of this PETG product for building a Shore Trooper using a Creality Spark i7 with AMS. Its fair to say that I have moved along from ABS.

Great PETG

PETG generally is a step up from PLA in terms of difficulty printing; you need to know how to tune your profiles if you want the absolute best from it. Any seasoned 3D printing hobbyist will tell you to dry all filaments regardless new or not, especially PETG because it's very hydrophilic i.e. it loves moisture. This roll of Elegoo is no different. Dried it out and prints beautifully and fast. Leaving the roll out for 3-4 days in Sydney weather and the print quality is horrible. Highly rate this for the quality and speed.

Fantastic PETG

I've bought quite a lot Elegoo Rapid PETG and was surprised by some of the poor ratings. I have found this to be an excellent filament at a great price, never had any moisture issues out of the box, I do always dry my PETG though anyway.

Awesome Quick Pickup

I bought this recently as my first PETG filament and it works great. Great recommendation from store staff and a decent price at $20 for a kilo. It did require drying though before I started using it.

Like Pringles, once it pops, it never stops.

I would have to say that Elegoos rapdonperg would be close to the worst filament I have very purchased in the last 10 years(I've purchased some doozies). I've not had this much moisture in a filament since I left ABS in the rain, 12hours of drying didn't help it either. Scary fact was that it was like this straight out of the air tight seal. Resigned to the fact that it is what it is, it prints, just looks bad.
