Hobbyist multimeters provide exceptional value for money, and good features for a range of applications.

This practical multimeter measures both DC and AC voltages and currents. The default autoranging setting automatically selects the best range for your measurements. If a different range is preferred, simply switch it to manual. A built-in buzzer and LED warning light alert you to low resistance, detected voltage and live wires. In low light conditions you can activate the 10 second backlight to view measurements. Use the data hold button to lock them on screen for data capture and analysis.

Pretty good

NeddJuly 2025

Good value for an autorange DMM, but I wasn't happy with the DC voltage accuracy when comparing to a few other meters. Fortunately I was able to calibrate it with the internal trimpot VR1, but the user manual was totally wrong in regard to opening the unit to replace the fuses (and access the board). You don't remove the battery cover etc (no screws under there) but have to remove the yellow jacket (not easy) to get at the case screws. Then I noticed that Fuse 1 protecting the 200mA max current input was fitted with a 500mA fuse and is labelled "200mA or 500mA" on the circuit board.. I question whether the larger size will provide adequate protection and might need to replace it.

Good value. Accurate readings

Good multimeter for the money. I had mine independently calibrated and it came back with excellent results all within spec. I like the backlight and the fact it's auto ranging.

Best beginner multimeter

This multimeter comes with autoranging and uses standard triple A batteries this makes it perfect for beginners. Also has a lifetime warranty so it will last.

Not what it appears.

Think about why a retailer would discount an item 25%. The test lead connections are so loose in the sockets that it either doesn't read or the readings change constantly. A dead short on the test leads produced anything from 0.3 to 2.0 Ohms. The auto-range feature is too slow. Basically made to look better than it is. I returned it.

Spend your money on a better meter.

Bought 2 of these for different locations and neither of them turn on unless you shake the crap out of it then it doesn’t stay on , checked and replaced the batteries still does it, Get what you pay I suppose.
