Nice, easy to use unit. One undocumented feature is that pin D10 switches the backlight on and off. I discovered this when attempting to use D10 for normal I/O. The data sheet does not list the function but it is omitted from the list of unused pins.
Beware digital pads
There are some quirks on how the Digital pins from the Arduino are connected to the pads next to these pins on the LCD board. These caught me out! 1) D0 is actually the first pad (it connects diagonally) 2) D1 is the second pad (even though it aligns with the DD2 label of the Arduino) 3) D2 is the third pad 4) D3 is the fourth pad. STRANGELY the next three pads are unconnected to the pins!
