Why did the sound quality suddenly drop off?

NiftyMarch 2025

I've used these a lot before, and there were very good, but the five pairs I bought a couple of months ago don't sound anywhere near as good as the previous 10+ pairs I've owned. The 'bad' ones are more "mid-rangey", with less bass and treble, and the treble that's there isn't clear. I hope it's just a dud batch. Having said that, 8 bucks is obviously still very cheap. Also, I suppose owning 10+ pairs tells you that they're not too durable, but I don't expect $8 headphones to last forever, especially the way I knock them around while exercising and gardening, etc.

About as expected

Jaycrew69January 2024

Bought as a cheap temporary pair to use with phone for music. Audio was fine. Slight crackle with some rotation of the 3.5mm plug but nothing prolonged. With heavy use (daily) they lasted about 1-2 months before the cable leading in to the 3.5mm plug started to show damage; after about 2-3 months the wire became exposed. Shortly after they became unusable. Didn't notice any other major issues. Overall low quality product but fairly reliable and good value if expectations are appropriate.

Good for the price

VinnieDecember 2024

Good for the price, but I'd like them to be more durable. The sound is quite good for such cheap headphones; in fact, I doubt it's possible to get the same sound for 8 bucks. I use them a LOT: several hours a day. I'm lucky to get 2 months out a pair before one side dies, then the other dies shortly after. Getting moved around, and in and out of my pocket, heaps causes kinking that I assume eventually breaks the connection.
