Does the job at the right price

RustyNovember 2024

I needed a low cost solution for my MacBook Pro with GPU as it overheats in summer. This is an all plastic unit but its solid and doesn't wobble or slip. It fits the 15" laptop exactly. The fan is barely noticeable when no other noise in the room. It comes with a short USB connector cable as it needs female to female. There are two USB plugs at the rear, one for power in and the other for power out. The unit lifts the front of the laptop about an inch off the table, so you might want to use an external keyboard. The only downside is there is no on/off switch. It glows blue when on but doesn't distract and light can't be turned off while running. Overall good value for what it does.

Fits my power hungry and overheating gaming laptop exactly perfectly!👍‍ MSI Vector GP68HX 13VG, to compare dimensions. For $25, the fans are just a gentle hum. The 2x built-in fans are probably worth that money anyway and possible could be retrofitted with other quieter ones if you're a bored Tech like me.. Frame is plastic with metal lever mechanism (multiple angled positions) and a metal mesh on top. All black finish. That's it. Simple. Neat. Looks more business-like, not gamey, which I like. The blue LED lighting is a nice touch. The whole thing looks very neat and discrete. Yes, mate, you can always find better and fancier with 6+ fans and pay 10x more if you wish, but this unit is SAVING my $4000 laptop from melting down or burning my house down in my very hot room in the Aussie summer right now.. Just in time this December. The laptop has ceased randomly hanging and crashing (from overheating, running much cooler, happier) and not panicking anymore. Laptop fans run much quieter. Just above idle noises with the assist, just a droll.. even under heavy compute. Laptop no longer sounds like a Hoover taking off. BEST $25 I've spent in years, it buys me time to save up for a proper desktop! It's not Rolls Royce. It feels like it to me. You NEED this for your overheating crashing laptop!
