Conduction problems

I had major issues pushing the component wires into the holes. And even when I used a simple LED, resistor, wire to battery circuit, the electricity would not conduct, when this simple circuit was made with battery, without breadboard it worked, therefore problem was with breadboard and not components. Upon dismantling the breadboard,I saw the conduction points were made of metal clips that the component wires could slip out of. It meant that the setup was unstable and even using pliers to compress the component wire connections to a flat point in order to insert them into the breadboard holes didn't prevent the slight vibrations that could cause already inserted component wires to slip out of place, wrecking the hole circuit
