This heavy duty torch is made for use in the toughest of conditions. It features an o-ring seal protecting the inside from the elements including rain and dust. The ergonomic design of the torch handle prevents it from slipping from your hand. An ultra-bright 500 lumen LED light produces a beam that reaches 172 metres and provides up to two hours of continuous use. An adjustable head allows you to focus the beam, and you can utilise the two light modes: high and low, accessible by double-tapping the button. Unreliable poor build quality
Background We have two of these and both are unreliable rubbish. i've reached out dozens of times to jaycar support on this with no response. Issues Reliability Issues The units intermittently work - internal wiring seems to be making poor connection and the torches often do not turn on or stay on.. requiring a hard tap to get them to active. Battery and Charging The battery charging function is dumb and is not sufficient to bring the battery back up to full capacity after use, these are removable batteries so I frequently remove them and externally charge them in a lithium charger to make up the difference but their capacity has quickly degraded and we're now lucky if we get 15 minute use of the torches before they dim or shut off completely. Batteries included seem sot be no name batteries, so perhaps batteries are part of the problem too. Build Quality Front lens that focuses the light does not secure on properly, we are frequently discovering the lens and screw has dropped off, requiring hours of searching around the site to find the missing parts, so far have found them each time but there is no way to secure the lens on reliability. Without the front lens glass it does not function correctly. Very deceptive product as the build quality initially looked good (thick aluminium body) and appeared to have good initial light output plus with the size battery in them they should run for hours not minutes. Warranty As noted, no solutions from jaycar team on solving this despite reaching out to them heaps of times. The torches lasted a few months before problems started and really no warranty. At the price of these torches, would expect a LOT longer service life, years of statutory warranty at the price they'd been selling them I would think at minimum.
I bought brand new in packet got torch out only to find something rattling inside like a previous customer dropped the packet pulled torch completely apart to find a loose pice of solder inside torch works fine but was not happy to find this out
Good torch
Torch works great, pretty bright and has good throw. It has stopped working a few times but I just took the lens out and tightened the LED down again. Pretty repairable and all round a fairly good value torch.
