I bought this specifically to input audio to a mac, using the microphone. Obviously mono, as there is only a single microphone channel, but the input socket has no connection via the tip, only the ring of a TRS plug. As a consequence, a mono plug shorts the 0V and microphone line. Would be OK if you wanted to record one channel of a stereo signal, but then connecting the tip would achieve the same result as well as working with single channel plugs.

Do not buy
Mic and ground are swapped. The bottom ring should be ground but it's the top 2 rings on the mic connector.
