A variety of uses, including tamper detection
Although not very strong, I use these to "lock" my bag when travelling overseas. Easy for customs to cut open, but I know then that my bag has been opened. I use various colours, then photograph when finished. (Thieves (and Customs) may otherwise destroy your bag of you firmly lock it.)
