DO NOT BUY

ThebrodesterJanuary 2024

This item is often thought to be able to power devices that run on 12V from a 5V USB socket. The device is only rated to 8W. This rating means that at most it can power a device drawing 12V 0.6A. A 1 metre LED strip light on average draws 12V 1A. This means that this item does not power most devices. I am honestly unsure of its use case as not many devices that run on 12V use less than 8W. Using this device above its rated voltage can cause excessive heat, melt the housing or even cause fire. unless you know your item is drawing less that 8W do not buy!!

Works alright, only 8 watts

This unit is alright, but keep in mind it's only 8 watts, or on 12v that's 670mA. USB can typically deliver to around 12w max, so this product is decent. You will not be able to run most devices off of this, as again it's only 8w of power. If you are trying to run an entire car fridge or several meters of LED strip off of a single USB socket, you need to rethink your entire electrical setup as it's not gonna happen
